Hello people, just now many of you had questions about the Esplanade. Post your questions here. If you do not have any, then maybe you could respond to the questions. Let's build on our knowledge together.
The Esplanade is a waterfront location just north of the mouth of the Singapore River in downtown Singapore. It is primarily occupied by the Esplanade Park, and was the venue where one of Singapore's largest congregation of satay outlets until their relocation to Clarke Quay as a result of the construction of a major performance arts venue, the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, which took its name from this location.
the triangular sunshades came about because he wanted to protect the building from the sun, yet allow lot of views outside.
It also makes the building look different from different angles. For example, if one were to view it from the ground level of the Swissotel The Stamford, one would see nothing but glass because the sunshade edges are pointing at you. But if one were to go up all the way to the top of the hotel and view the Esplanade, you see only the sunshades and no glass.
The man is Mr Gore who bulit the espland. He wanted to bulit it because he designed the structure and he will tell you that the durian was far from his mind when he came up with a plan to block the sunlight and yet give unobstructed views of the outside from the performing centre
My mum told me that my late grandfather used to sell satay at the Esplanade during the 70s.From then till now the Esplanade has always been a tourist attraction centre .last time there more then 20 stalls selling satay there.
Why did the 'Durian' must place at Esplanade, not at other places?
ReplyDeletemaybe the tourists can see the Durian , the singapore flyer ,marina barrage and merlion all at the same place.
